2024 EPA Clean Heavy-Duty Vehicles Grant
$932 Million available
Offering funding to eligible recipients to replace current non-zero-emission Class 6 and Class 7 heavy-duty vehicles with eligible Class 6 and Class 7 zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles. Read more.
Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Grant
The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM), Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), and Drive Clean Indiana have partnered up to apply for funding for both corridor and community EV charging enhancements through Round 2 of the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA’s) Charging and Fueling Infrastructure (CFI) Grant Program. Round 2 of the CFI program will provide up to $800 million to deploy publicly accessible EV charging along designated Alternative Fuel Corridors (AFCs) and local communities within 5 miles of a designated AFC.
IDEM is inviting Hoosiers to give their feedback on how the state should spend this federal grant money to grow Indiana’s EV charging network.

Drive Clean Indiana (DCI), a Clean Cities and Communities coalition managed by Legacy Environmental Services, was awarded $5.27M in Indiana Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust Fund grant funds. The sum represents 82 percent awarded to DCI members and partners of the $6.25M in Round 4 funding.
Fully electric vehicles are exempt from emissions testing in Indiana. To apply for an Electric Vehicle Exemption please complete the online form. Your exemption will be confirmed by email after it has been reviewed. This process will occur within one business day.

Kerlin Bus continues to play a crucial role in advancing the Drive Clean Indiana mission. Their commitment to sustainable transportation solutions and community engagement embodies the values we strive to uphold for the state of Indiana.
Dave Dorsett, Kerlin’s EV Account Manager, is also an active Drive Clean Indiana board member.
Dave Dorsett was awarded the 2024 Partners for Clean Air Industrial Award on June 14. From Kerlin’s first Clean EV School Bus in 2019, Dave has been a strong partner and advocate for Clean School Buses.
Partners for Clean Air Luncheon Awards
Partners for Clean Air is a coalition of businesses, industries, local governments, community groups, and individuals that are committed to improving air quality and public health through voluntary actions in Northwest Indiana.
During the Annual Partners for Clean Air Luncheon, Northwest Indiana students are awarded scholarships of $2,500. Three students from Chesterton, Lake Central, and Hanover High Schools were awarded this year.
Along with the scholarship awards, other entities were recognized for acting above and beyond their regulatory requirements to improve air quality.
